Aldehydes & Ketones

Most common aldehydes and ketones found in occupants environments.

Aldehydes & Ketones

Formaldehyde and other possible aldehydes present in the emissions react with the 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine to form the formaldehyde dinitrophenylhydrazone derivative, like Acetaldehyde, 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone; Propanal, (2,4-dinitrophenyl)hydrazone; 2,4-dinitro-N-(1-phenylethylideneamino)aniline. By extraction of those dinitrophenylhydrazone derivatives, and solvent-exchange, the concentrate is analysed by HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) according to EPA Method 8315 or other appropriate technique. EPA Method 8315; ISO 16000-3
